Job Description

Position Level: This role can be filled at either a Communications Specialist I or II, depending on experience and education.

Purpose of the Role:

The Communications Specialist will play a vital role in collaborating within the communications department, particularly with the customer communications team. The role involves working closely with internal partners to develop and implement both long-term and campaign-specific communication strategies that align with Entergy’s vision, mission, and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advising Leadership: Provide guidance to company leaders and employees on best practices for communication, reputation management, and strategic public relations.
  • Strategy Execution: Contribute to and execute communication plans designed to inform and engage stakeholders.
  • Industry Monitoring: Keep track of industry news and emerging issues relevant to the company, providing timely updates.
  • Performance Reporting: Collect and analyze key performance indicators to create reports that highlight the effectiveness of communications efforts.
  • Content Development: Assist in crafting internal and external messaging for various platforms, including news releases, social media, and web content.
  • Proactive Engagement: Work with leadership to identify business needs and create communication plans that address these objectives.
  • Crisis Communication: Support storm and crisis communication initiatives as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Communications Specialist I: 0-3 years of experience in communications, social media, or a related area.
    • Communications Specialist II: 3+ years of relevant experience is required.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong writing and editing skills, including knowledge of AP style.
    • Ability to learn and use various publishing software, such as Photoshop, InDesign, Office 365, and web content management systems.
    • Strong consulting skills and the ability to understand complex situations.
    • Proven problem-solving abilities, especially in translating complex concepts into clear, effective communication strategies.

Working Conditions:

As part of a company that provides essential services, employees may be required to work additional hours or at alternate locations during storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations as deemed necessary by Entergy.
