Role Purpose:
This role offers the unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on individuals’ lives by providing specialized support in smoking cessation. As a Specialist Stop Smoking Practitioner, you will be instrumental in delivering evidence-based and equitable stop smoking services, particularly in areas with significant deprivation. The position requires flexibility, independence, and the ability to work as part of a cohesive team.
Comprehensive Smoking Cessation Training will be provided to ensure that staff/applicants are fully equipped to deliver effective services. This includes certification as an NCSCT Practitioner upon successful completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Service Delivery: Provide stop smoking services in line with evidence-based practices, focusing on areas with high levels of deprivation. The goal is to reduce health inequalities across the contracted localities.
- Client Engagement: Motivate and support individuals to quit smoking, using a positive and inspiring approach to instill confidence and drive behavior change.
- Case Management: Manage your own caseload independently, ensuring that clients receive consistent and effective support without requiring day-to-day supervision.
- Flexibility: Adapt your approach to meet the needs of the service, working flexibly and traveling independently across the county as required.
Essential Criteria:
- Education: Higher-level education or a relevant degree in health, social care, public health, or a related field. Alternatively, significant experience in a healthcare support role.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Behavior Change Knowledge: Understanding of behavior change concepts and the ability to implement these in practice.
- Experience: Demonstrated experience in smoking cessation or addiction support, with the ability to manage a caseload autonomously.
- Personal Qualities: Motivated, organized, and proactive with a passion for helping people achieve better health outcomes.
