Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager who will also serve as the Head of Unit for our procurement department. In this leadership role, you will manage a team of approximately 23 employees and play a crucial role in shaping our procurement strategies. Your responsibilities will include leading the development of innovative procurement processes and ensuring alignment with the municipality’s sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire a team to drive strategic procurement initiatives and manage change effectively
  • Enhance existing procurement methods and systems to ensure optimal performance
  • Support and mentor team members on procurement issues and practices
  • Stay informed on global procurement trends and integrate relevant innovations
  • Contribute to the municipality’s sustainable development program, “Our Sustainable Örebro”
  • Collaborate with municipal companies and coordinate certain procurements across Örebro County
  • Oversee the procurement unit’s role in supporting goods distribution and coordination within our e-commerce and distribution center
  • Report to the Director of Supply and participate in the management team

About the Workplace:
The Procurement Unit, part of the Municipal Management Administration, is responsible for procurement across various municipal administrations and Örebro County municipalities. We emphasize competitive neutrality, legal security, and sustainability in our procurement processes. In fall 2024, we will relocate to newly renovated, centrally located offices designed for modern working practices. As a manager, you’ll benefit from continuous skill development and contribute to activities that prioritize citizens’ needs.

Qualifications:

  • Academic degree in economics, law, or a relevant field
  • Proven experience in personnel management, finance, and operational responsibilities
  • Strong background in complex operations and leadership
  • In-depth knowledge of LOU (Public Procurement Act)

Desirable:

  • Experience in category management
  • Proven track record in leading change processes and development work
  • Background in the public sector

Skills and Competencies:

  • Holistic and committed leadership style with a focus on collaboration and participation
  • Effective communication and empathetic skills to foster an innovative work environment
  • Strong business acumen and ability to drive results with a focus on efficiency and sustainability
  • Ability to manage multiple contacts and lead with a strategic vision
